Just made our reservations for zion and we're getting ready to decide on the following  week. Found out today that is Utah spring break. Ugh... any suggestions?? We are even up to camping in forest where campground may be closed but stolen open. Have 60 gallons of water storage, solar, and generator... .or maybe a rv park best bet during deer busy time. Even though we have never camped with full hook ups!! Plan on visiting southern utah, mesquite Nevada area, Northern Arizona.... thanks

I would go to Bryce Canyon. I cannot imagine it would be crowded at that time of year. Not exactly a spring break hot spot and only 80 miles north of Zion.

Bryce is at 7500 feet, and it can be pretty cold and snowy in March. The park is absolutely gorgeous in the snow though, and cold keeps a lot of folks away. If the park campground isn't open, try Ruby's Inn. We camped near Bryce in late May, and the temps were down to freezing each night.

There aren't many places in southern Utah that won't be very busy in mid to late March, but it will get worse in April LOL! Try Canyonlands and Capital Reef. The Blanding area has wonderful Indian historic sites - pictographs, petroglyphs etc. Check out 9 Mile Canyon too. We recently spent 2 weeks in late March/early April doing a Native American history tour of that area. Lots of wonderful places.

Wonder is snow canyon state park would be good... out of way and not a lot of sites..

Here's  a spot near Bryce my OH stayed at and it looked brilliant - think most  have fire ring even  though it's free!

If in Southern UTAH you could drop down to Las Vegas for a week... OF course don't forget the old joke

I arrived in Las Vegas in a 50,000 car and left in a 500,000 chauffer driven..... bus

In Bryce NP, it looks like the North CG:  https://www.nps.gov/brca/planyourvisit/northcampground.htm has one loop open in March for first come first serve camping.

As far as weather, go to Weather Underground and their history calendar for March:  https://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KBCE/2015/3/26/MonthlyCalendar.html?req_city=Bryce%20Canyon%20Natl%20Park&req_state=UT&req_statename=&reqdb.zip=84776&reqdb.magic=2&reqdb.wmo=99999  and look at the temps for March 2015.  With a click of your mouse you can check earlier years.

At a quick glance you can expect many or most days of bright sunshine with highs in the 50's to 60's. Many lows in the teens and 20's.  If your RV can handle the freezing weather, the days in the 50's and 60's without the crowds of people will be very nice.  Especially for hiking.  Do be aware you could hit a few days of very cold, windy and snowy days.  Just watch the weather forecast and move to lower elevation if nasty weather is coming.

If the weather looks iffy, consider going down the hill and staying in Tropic.  It's name reflects the temperatures in the valley versus at the much higher elevations at the campgrounds in and around Bryce Canyon itself.
