Yuma

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
If you're into resorts, activities, etc., there are plenty of choices and others will contribute suggestions.  If you're wanting some peace and quiet with electricity but relatively easy access to groceries, etc., check into private lot rentals in the Foothills east of Yuma.  If you're boondockers, check out the BLM sites, the VFW site, and, again, others will contribute suggestions.  While you're in the area, be sure to explore the bargains (and not  ::) ) in Algodones.

As Margi said, there are  many things to do and see in Yuma.  Lots of RV Parks with  MANY amenities.  Check out Fortuna D 'Oro, The Palms  or Sundance on the west side of Foothill area. Or Westwind.  50 foot  motorhome is  very long????  What time of year are you coming. The place  fills up January and February so a call ahead for a reservation would  help secure your security of a place.

Yuma Territorial  Prison, Old Town Main Street.  Lots of  off road trails.  The lots in Yuma are the most serene and private but if you are only staying a week most of those rentals are for several months or more.  Check out the  Yuma Visitor website for daily activities. Of course  Algodones, Mexico  is good for a visit  for  medications, glasses, dental and plain old tourist shopping.  Bring a passport and  money for the  parking lot on US side and then you walk over border.  A really fun day!

We stayed at Palms RV Resort a couple years ago. It was very nice, patio, large space, dog friendly, clean, gated. Large and small grass dog parks.

We have stayed at the Palm's in the past, and it is probably the best park in Yuma, but as said there are 80 other parks. Have also rented private lot in Foothills, and they work also. You may want to try and stay longer than a week. We are booked at Fortuna D' Oro in Jan, and as Betty states, that is a nice park as well. Lots to choose from, have fun.

I have stayed at the vfw its for good dry camping and Fortuna is fun there is always something going on the pool haul is nice and we meet at 10 am. I also like casino camping, I did a google search and found the top 10 things to do in yuma will be there after the quartzsite rally

Just a note that the VFW boondocking site is a free 14 day BLM boondocking area adjacent to VFW Post 8292.  You don't have to be a Vet or belong to the VFW to stay there.

It's about 5 miles north of Yuma on US 95.

If you like swap meets, check out the Arizona Marketplace and the Park & Swap at the old dog track.  The first is more upscale, the second is more funky but fun.  Much of the same stuff as you'll find in Quartzsite.
