We are now full-time in the Mothership and would like to up grade our Directv reciever. We are looking for suggestions.
Since we do not have a HD antenna we want to get a standard reciever with DVR.
Called Direct, they referred to 1 Guard who suggested the HR24 model. Everything I see on the HR24 is it has HD.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.
Merry Christmas!

I may have the answer to my own question;

Doesn't matter if the reciever is HD or not, it all depends on the antenna.
A HD reciever will still recieve programming with a standard antenna.

How am I doing?

The HR24 does HD and SD. What it does have are RGB, and video outputs as well as HDMI. It does not have an RF (coax) output. So, if your TV has any of the above inputs you should be good to go. It is a DVR so should fit you bill.
I assume you have a regular round dish antenna.

Hi Bobsharon, thanks for the response.

Yes, we do have the round dish antenna on a tripod. Our TV has 2 HDMI connections so that's a plus.
We are looking forward to having a DVR again, it's been a few years!

Thank you both for your service to our country. God bless and Merry Christmas!

Great! When or if you change out your round setup for the larger SWM type HD dish, you won't have to anything but redo your receiver setup.
