I am considering a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4WD for use as a tow car behind our 2005 Minnie. This will be our first experience with a tow car.
Any pros or cons on this set up ?

Good choice.  All 4wd Jeeps are towable with instructions in the owners manual for setting it up for towing.  There are no modifications to the drive train required.  We have towed Jeep GC for 100K plus.  Besides lots of fun to go off roading in like at Moab.
