Happy Holidays!
I'm looking to upgrade our toad vehicle from a 2 dr Jeep Wrangler to a 4 dr Jeep Wrangler. Love the car, but finding space is an issue. Our Class A has a hitch receiver rating of 5, 000 lbs. If I go to a 4dr with a weight of 5400 lbs, am I being unsafe?
We have a blue ox set up that has been great!
Thanks in advance,

Two answers, actually 3
First the hitch rating is the maximum you can tow with that hitch, but it may be more than you can safely tow with the motor home. For example. MY Hitch is rated at 5,000 but the most I can tow is 4,000 (Difference between Motor home Gross weight and Combined Gross Vehicle Weight.

Second. I've seen folks way over and no problems... So,,, I can not recommend it, but you will be less than 10% over hitch rating

Finally, this assumes a STRAIGHT hookup (no drop or rise) and an aux brake system on the Jeep... I'd not tow that Jeep without brakes.
