I have a 2016 Ford Edge as my toad with push button start.  When I put the car in neutral and go accessory, the day time lights and navigation stay on. If I disconnect the negative battery cable, I disable the break-away feature on my auxiliary braking system.  Any suggestions on how to keep the braking system working without killing the battery?

I had same problem with my 2013.  Battery dead every time I stopped.
PITA to get boosters out all the time.
I ran a line from car end of electrical umbilical to battery. Put a 20A auto reset circuit breaker in an inline fuse holder.
Worked great. I only install breaker when towing.

Power the breakaway direct from the battery with its own wire/fuse, so that it doesn't get disconnected.

Are you following the Recreational Towing instructions in the Edge owner manual? Usually the pushbutton start models don't have to be in "accessory" for towing because they don't have a locking steering wheel anyway.
