I've seen them self-built with PVC and canvas. Or just buy the steel frame minus the roof and cover with canvas.

Here are some prices and options:

This is the best idea so far Cynthia. Pricey but good.

This would also extend the life of the roof and protect the slides (maybe you wouldn't need the slide toppers). If you're not already completely shaded could slightly reduce cooling costs too.

My slide toppers are not hooked up so this might be the best solution. I am completely shaded so it won't reduce cooling costs.

I'd go with the bubble wrap.

I was under an oak tree one winter. Every time I would drive to the grocery store, the roof sounded like a thousand marbles rolling off of it.

How about an RV port?

It looks like the steel roof provides intrinsic support to the structure - I don't see any evidence of the frame extending from one support to the other.  So replacing the roof with canvas is probably out.

With a single layer of steel, you're just replacing the relatively quiet rubber roof with a steel drum.

I like the foam roof idea - when I had a mobile home I coated it myself with Kool Seal that expands about 1/4 inch after it dries.  It completely dampened the sound of heavy rain on the roof.  This was an aluminum roof so I have no idea if it or the foam roof is compatible with EDPM rubber.

The Reflectix foil bubble wrap is another good idea and is pretty inexpensive. Here's a video on how one woman installed it on her motor home.

Tie a huge sheet to the tree to catch said acorns, like a huge hammock   the squirrels could use it as a trampoline  ;D

Fall is a beautiful time of the year.  You'll always know what time of year it is from the sound of the acorns hitting your roof!!!!  You'll learn to estimate wind speed by the rate at which the acorns are hitting the roof!!  When the noise has stopped for a couple weeks, you'll know its time to go up and sweep them off!  No Problem

I just hope your cats don't freak out from the acorns hitting the roof.

Don't know about Tom's cats but our cat and dog did freak out with every batch of acorns and even with heavy rain.  The cat would hide is the smallest place she could find and the dog would just whine.  The dog eventually went deaf - she was already blind.  I don't know if the noise is what caused it but can imagine that if you are blind and sudden noises keep startling you, it must be terrible.  Their and our situation with that noise was one reason we decided to move and another reason that our current home has no oak trees anywhere close to the house.

Here is a link to the canvas carports which can be fitted for an RV.

http://www.acecanopy.com/carports.html

I believe you wouldn't hear the acorns slapping the canvas, since it will be an air pocket above your roof. Will also save you a bundle on future roof maintenance. Might even cut costs on AC in the summer since it will have that extra air pocket of insulation from Florida sunshine and heat.

Good luck! Hope to celebrate with ya soon!

Another canvas and metal company:

Also they have an ap for designing your own.

Thanks for the links Cynthia. Unfortunately my fifth wheel is much too tall to fit in most of those enclosures. It towers above my class A. Must be 13 feet tall and there is a canopy of the tree that will be above it. It would definitely cut down on the noise if I could fit it in but it would not save me money on air conditioning since the sun will not be shining on the roof. Fortunately I am in no hurry since the acorns won't be falling until fall time.

I was thinking that some of that matrix stuff they use under house siding might be something to consider....if you could figure a way to semi-permanently secure it to the roof.  It would let moisture through, and might be open enough so that leaf debris might self clear with wind or periodically blowing with a leaf blower....  Don't know if it's uv resistant though
or maybe some kind of playground pad/mat material might be a better direction to look.

Guessing you're not planning on being mobile, so these sorts of things could be the ticket....

Tom, I've got the only idea that will actually work:

https://www.amazon.com/3M-Peltor-Earmuffs-Yellow-X2A/dp/B00CPCH86A/ref=sr_1_6?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1487734464&sr=1-6&keywords=earmuff
It would work for me but what about the cats? ???
