Long time lurker, rare poster.  Planning to go full time early next year, and will be purchasing MH soon.  Anyway, we knew we wanted to do off roading and wanted a Rubicon.  I found "the one" yesterday and pulled the trigger.  It's has 2" lift, 35" all terrains, Rubi rails, steel front and rear bumpers and a winch.  My DW and I look forward to joining you guys somewhere out there.

One quick, maybe dumb, question: Do I have to install a base plate or can it be towed with the D-ring mounts on the front bumper?

I think I've attached a pic.

You will need a base plate Jerry.  The D rings can be used for the safety cables, but the tow bar will need solid anchor points to control that 4000# plus pounds back there.  You may be able to add tow points to the front of your bumper, provided that you can bolt them through to the frame.  I would not recommend weld on tow points.

BTW, your pic didn't post.  Try again. Make sure it is small enough to be accepted by the forum software.

Thanks, Marty.  Yeah, that's what the guy at the dealership told me.  I just wasn't sure he know what he was talking about.  Pic must be too big.  It was the one from ebay add.

Here is an example of what I am talking about. These bolt right into the frame through the Rock Hard bumper. Rock Hard makes the tow points.

You Can use this if your D-rings are the right size...https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Blue-Ox/BX88296.html

Thanks to all for their replies.  I had seen the product you mentioned above and that looks good.  I still haven't figured out how to get pictures imported but I have a Poison Spyder Bumper with lite skid as shown in below link.  It's a nice finished look, but no external bolts to attach another mount for either tow bar or safety cables/chains.  Suggestions?  Weld?

Great thread. I'm actually thinking of getting a Rubicon express for our Cherokee XJ since I found one at 4WheelOnline. I just need the right information before I use it with off-road driving.
