Hi to all at RV FORUM.
Special hello's and thanks go out to the members listed who shared tips; information and opinions on my original 'California Loop' topic September last, 2016.
Tom (Administrator); Tom (Seiler Bird); Jackiemac; Arch Hoagland; 8Muddypaws; Tom & Margi; Marsha/CA;
Lou Schneider; SargeW (Marty); JX2Fields; Catrobin; & Nibroc.

Some months have passed since then, and we would like to touch base with you all to give a quick update, more importantly, making use of your advice and tips.

Well, let's start with the good news first. With the many tips & recommendations on the many places to visit and stay in our RV, and considering only a 20 day visit to California this time, we've taken snip bits, put them all into some form of order and built a trip that will generate memories for a lifetime.
It's also a fact that we just can not fit ALL suggestions into our vacation, so, we have our 'Next trip Folder' well stocked with places to look at already.  A fantastic starting point.

1.  Our start point is Santa Monica Pier, (In Los Angeles 2 days); Disney 2 days/2nites, Anaheim RV resort.
2.  HWY 395 to Silver lake 1 Day/1 Nite, Silver Lake RV Park. June Lake Loop.
3.  June Lake loop, HWY 395, HWY 120 E/Tioga Pass to Yosemite Valley; Lower Pines Campground, 4Days/4Nites
4.  Hwy 120 E/Tioga Pass to HWY 395, Carson City NV to Camp Richardson, Lake Tahoe CA 2 Days/3Nites.
5.  Hwy 50 to Sacramento; San Mateo Bridge; Pacifica, San Francisco RV Resort 3 Days/4 Nites.
6.  HWY 1 Coast Road to Pismo Coast Village RV Resort 2 Days/2Nites
7.  Hwy 101/Hwy 154/101 to Ventura/Oxnard; Hwy 1 to Malibu 1 1/2 Days/2 nites.
8.  LAX to Home in Australia.

No bad news about this trip to report.

To finish, let us just say how thankful & privileged we feel (with your help), for not only visiting beautiful California, but bidding and winning a campsite in Yosemite Valley, a long time and distant wish fulfilled.

All our Best to all of you..........................

When will you be taking your trip?  Heavy winter storms have hit the California Coast extremely hard, over 60 inches of rainfall inside of a few weeks have caused numerous landslides and a collapsed bridge along Highway 1 through the Big Sur area.  It's expected to remain closed for at least a year.

You'll have to detour inland at Monterey and take US 101 south to Pismo Beach.  If you want, you can go over to the coast road using CA 46 south of Paso Robles, then go north to visit Hearst Castle before following the road south to Pismo Beach.

Hi Lou,
We arrive Septemer 8, LAX.
Thanks for that, we do get the (local) news reports here in Australia, for the most part though it's just about heavy rain/ snow or fire, but ends there.  Almost always, if we want further info (as you have provided) about damage/repairs to road/rail/ etc we have to dig for ourselves.

So yes, we will divert if we have to.
I'll just have check further if we can still get to Bixby Creek Bridge for for pics/videos, hope it's accessible & undamaged.

Cheers & Thanks.

Look forward to hearing about it once you are out there on the road, if you have time,  or after the trip!  ;D
