We will be heading from PA to sw CO this june. Great sand dunes, then most likely hwy 160 to durango area and mesa verde. Anything to not miss or campground recommendations would be great.  Plan to do medona trail and hopefully  camp overnite with the kids there.  Don't mind leaving the motorhome at an rv park for a few days and tent it in the backcountry if needed.

Not sure about campgrounds in the area but Pagosa is a nice place to stop.  Nice hot springs spa and a beer garden (wold creek brewery).

Mesa Verde was awesome. We camped at the NP campground and I recommend making reservations in advance. You really want a car to get around. There are two main areas to visit (1 day each) and only one has RV parking (limited). If you don't have one you can rent one at Cortez airport (need/want reservation)...

Have a great trip... once you get to Colorado, you have so many choices depending on what you like to do.  If you like the Medona Trail, there are literally hundreds more in the general area and many, many more either north or west of that area.  You could base out of Salida and never have to move plus there are plenty of RV parks in that area.

OTOH, if you stay on 160, through Wolf Creek Pass, you'll get to Pagosa Springs and then on to Durango and Mesa Verde.  The narrow gage RR from Durango to Silverton rates a glance as well.  If you like Mesa Verde, you might want to visit the "Canyon of the Ancients" check out the visitor center near Dolores for ideas.  Just google ideas for the activities you like in southern Colorado and you'll get plenty of options.
