Has anyone tackled the job of removing and replacing the hydraulic cooling fan motor on a side radiator model?

I have a Spartan Chassis with the Italian made Casappa pump.

Noticed fluid weeping from the output shaft. Not wanting to be left stranded on the side of the road, as this hydraulic system runs the power steering and the cooling fan.... I am pretty familiar with a wrench, but was wondering if there was anything I wasn't seeing that may become an issue while under there.

Contacted Spartan, they have brand new for 380.00

a rebuild around my area is 300.00...

leaning toward an 80 dollar diff for new.

Have you done the swap out John?

Oh right, the fan motor, hard to read from the phone. Freightliner replaced both the pump and motor on our Horizon because the fan wasn't reaching spec rpm (a warranty situation thank goodness.)

Absolutely, I will let you all know how it turns out.

I wonder if this is the type of leak that with just slowly seep or blow out... afraid to chance it

RPM's check out and everything works as it should.

I wouldn't have noticed it if it weren't for the lift pump leaking and causing a check engine light... Found that leak, tightened the bolts on the lift pump (fixed) then discovered the fan leaking.... Gotta love owning an RV!!
