For the first time in 9 years, both of our ceiling fans are failing to operate unless we are plugged into shore power. Tried both remotes on both fans. Opened them manually and they still won't turn on unless the RV is plugged in to some outside power. We just drove 100 miles to this location and noticed the problem. House and chassis batteries are all ok. Other 12v items work fine when not plugged in (water pump, lights, refrigerator, etc.). When I plug into external power, both fans work as they normally did. Any ideas??

That doesn't make much sense to me because the fans are 12 Volt DC and operate off the battery/converter and has nothing to do with shore power unless your batteries are toast. When you checked the batteries, did you disconnect one of the battery cables and then checked them with a voltmeter or did you just disconnect from shore power? Either way will work.
How old are the batteries? Did you check the water level?
