Glacier from the east side

Arriving Glacier on Monday and staying at Saint Mary Campground. A short stay, 3 nights. While the first 12 miles of Going to the Sun is open from St Mary, unfortunately, it appears questionable as to whether it will be fully open before we leave to head west towards Seattle.

Suggestions please for what to see, both if Going to the Sun does open, and if it doesn't.
 
More to do on the westside, but from St Mary's you can visit the Many Glaciers/Lake Shelburne area of the park as well as the Going to the Sun Rd as far as it is open. Access Many Glaciers off US 89 north of St Mary. Also a great day trip is to go up to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. Not much in St Mary's that I remember. First trip we did the eastside and then the westside of Glacier. Last 2 trips we just went to the westside, ut some day I want to stay at Waterton Lakes NP with the MH.
