Last year traveled rt 5 to 152 to 101. Encountered extreme wind gusts on 152 and would like to not repeat that. Looking at: Bakersfield rt 5 to 46 to 101. Any RV concerns for rt 46: narrow, steep, etc...?  Driving a 31ft class A, towing a jeep. Planning to go June 19, any feedback greatly appreciated.

it's not always windy,  you just hit a bad day.

We usually take 46 because there's less traffic and fewer towns.  It's basically flat and mostly straight.  It's a good two-lane road with wide shoulders through farming country.  Sometimes you see raisins drying.  Wind is not normal.  Don't believe that's ever been a problem for us there.

We've traveled that route dozens of times in the last few years.  Wind is not a big problem there.

152 between Gilroy and Los Banos, the most used alternate, is very often windy.

In may we drove 46 from I-5 to 101 with no issues. 43ft plus towing a jeep.

Stop in at Blackwells Corner, the Texaco station and mini-mart at the junction of Hwy 33 and 46.  It was James Dean's last stop before his fatal crash at the junction of Hwys 41 and 46 and has many James Dean / 1950s memorabilia items inside.

Thank you for all the replies, they were very encouraging.  Completed the route and it was flat and windless.  Safe travels to all.
