I finally got motivated to take the coach out of storage a couple of days ago and started the pre-trip prep. The fresh water system is sanitizing overnight. We'll finish loading and prep tomorrow and hopefully be out of here Monday. Plan to arrive in Moab Friday. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

If someone is wondering about the sanitizing procedure, click here for the procedure in our forum library.

Thanks Ron. We too look forward to seeing you and Sam.

We're skipping SLC this trip - going the southern route, caravaning with the Pennings.

We're planning on being at Canyon de Chelly Tuesday before heading for Moab on Friday, if you're coming that way.  There will be several other forumites there next week as well.

Hi Tom,

The last thing I wanted to hear tonight was pre-trip-prep. You know already that Mimy fell down Tuesday, hit her head and pulled a groin muscle. Next day I got her on crutches and tonight she did pretty good with the help of one crutch and I did not needed a forklift truck to get her in the motorhome for the first time. Wednesday, I picked up the motorhome from our friends, horse ranch storage, and the thing was filthy with sand inside and out side.

Yesterday, it took me a full day (12 hours) to clean and detail the inside. I waited with washing the outside since it has been raining for several days today it was dry and my oldest son came over to help me, since I?m not allowed to get on the roof anymore. Right after we finished with that it started raining again. My son mentioned that the DVD player did not work anymore, so off to Best Buy and got another one. Coming back into the motorhome and replacing the DVD player we discovered that above the cabinet (right side) where the satellite receiver and DVD player are located was a big 14? crack in the front windshield.

The window is measuring 4?x 9?. It was already late in the afternoon and I called Monaco tech support for advice and recommendations. Did not talk to a person but told me to leave a message and phone number. Got a call back within an hour and I told me that we were leaving tomorrow for Moab via Bakersfield and Vegas. He advised me to get in touch with Dave Simmons in Vegas.

He is a mobile RV specialist and does replacing of windows and is highly recommend by Monaco. Unfortunately the customer tech. could not give me phone number since he was called at home and he had the phone number is his rolodex at the company. Could not find the phone number from the mobile guy despite calling the L.V Monaco dealer and searching the web and yellow pages. No luck!!!

The window has to come from the main ware house in Phoenix which will take at least 2-3 days. We will be leaving tomorrow afternoon for Bakersfield since we have an appointment at Cummins Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. and plan to meet the Jones in the evening then continuing our trip Tuesday, morning, to Vegas then to Moab.
If we are unable to get the windshield replaced in Vegas before Wednesday afternoon, we will continue on to Moab and have it replaced on our way back via Vegas.

In the mean time it will be a very late late night and very early early morning. Have to still get most of our clothes together and placed in the motorhome.  Also, need to go to the grocery store and buy food.  Thus, will be a first/new experience for me. However, Mimy is very good in giving me instructions.  Not to mention, checking the grocery list she also forgot the beer.

Well Tom, don?t worry, we will be on schedule at the Orange Groove, in Bakersfield, Monday afternoon.

Ooh by the way there is no need or time for me to sanitize the fresh water. This afternoon while filling up the fresh water tank and doing several other jobs at the same time.  I returned to the coach and noticed water bellowing off the roof like Niagara Falls.                Yes, you guessed it. I turned the city water on then forgot to switch it to the fill valve.    The toilet overflowed through the vent pipes then flooded the entire bathroom and hall way. (No problem?. tile floors) Washed the bathroom rugs, dried them and returned them back to the coach.

Lucky the motorhome was parked on a slight, downward incline on the driveway.  This allowed the ?run- off? to the back of the bedroom and just partially flooded the carpet.  A good thing though, we have a commercial grade carpet cleaner / wet vac. and my youngest son soaked up the water.  Upon extracting all the water, we turned the heater on as well positioned a high output fan to further dry the area.
Now for the GOOD NEWS!!!! We are still smiling and finally leaving tomorrow towards Moab.  Mimy & I look forward to seeing you all. Have a good trip.

Chris & Mimy

Sorry to hear of Mimy's fall and of the challanges you have had to deal with getting ready for the trip.  Hope you have a safe enjoyable trip.  Sam & I will be there to great you at Moab.  Looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Chris,

Glad to hear Mimi is improving since the last time we talked. Hope she's feeling up to traveling.

Sounds like you've had a few challenges with the coach. Maybe Jerry or Ardra could look in their local LV phone directory to find Dave Simmons' number.

Sorry to hear about Mimi's fall but it sounds like you're doing a good job getting ready to leave. And what a unique way to clean the bathroom....let the water overflow and then wipe it down :)  As for groceries, you can always buy those along the way or eat out. And just think, if Mimi had gone to the grocery store, there wouldn't be any beer since it wasn't on her list...aren't you lucky that you're doing the shopping?  :D :D

BTW, I've always found that when something goes wrong before you leave, nothing goes wrong on the trip.

See you next week, safe travels.

Chris and Mimy,

Good thing to have a sense of humor with this RV thing.  We look forward to seeing you and as Wendy says it is likely you have already experienced the trials of this trip. With an RV it is always something.  See you soon in Moab,

Betty and Terry

Chris:

You made all that up to make me feel better about the sat antenna hitting the car and the refrigerator giving up the ghost, didn't you? ;D ;D

Hope the rest of the trip goes well.

Chris & Mimi

You guys have been hanging around UK-Paul too much ;D

Glad to hear that Mimi is doing better and you're on your way to Moab. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Bernie,

Looking forward to seeing you and Marlene. Be sure to ask Ned for a house call to fix your problem of viewing attachments.

I'll need Tom to collaborate on the problem(s) as it is related to the SMF software :)

Methinks that Bernie's and Jim's update of FF didn't include the new download dialog which was missing in 2.0.1 (2?). I'm witness to the fact that my update from FF 1.0.x retained the old dialog, allowing me to keep on cruising while others, presumably with "clean" updates, were having problems. But I'll be glad to tag along with Ned.

BTW Ned, is it possible for me to download a clean new copy of FF to a CD for later uploading to someone else's PC? With 6 Mb/s cable here at the house, download would be a breeze before we leave in the morning, but I don't recall if their download is just an installer.

Answered my own question .... I have a clean copy of FF 2.0.0.3 that can be installed on Bernie's PC.

Yes , you can :)  Get Thunderbird 2.0 while you're at it.
