I always take my banjo when we go camping. Last trip 4th of July weekend at the Ky horsepark. Drew a small crowd of people on golfcarts, but no other instruments to join in...

Try Nashville.
Several times, we've been treated to impromptu concerts right outside our RV site with fantastic musicians. Other musicians just walk over and join right in.
Free music of the caliber I would gladly pay for.

If we were closer and if I'd known you were playing, I'd have come along. OTOH I left my plectrum banjo at home this trip, and brought along a banjo ukulele.

Dave,
I see you have only two posts so far, but if you've been lurking here for a while you have noticed several banjo enthusiasts here on the forum. (Tom included)!
I wish I knew how to play that great instrument.
Perhaps if routes allow, you might meet up with some of them someday.

I suspect that Dave plays clawhammer style. I wish I could do that, but have to be satisfied with strumming.
