Tag height

Some coaches will allow you to actually raise the tag axle. In our Tour, however (Freightliner chassis) only the air pressure is dumped when you push the "Tag Dump" switch, and that only works when the coach is going less than 8 mph I believe. The tag pressure also dumps whenever you shift into Reverse.

Taking the down-pressure off the tag axle allows you to turn a bit sharper, but not a lot sharper. The tag's wheels still drag, just not as much as if you didn't push the "Tag Dump" switch.

Probably not, but call Freightliner Custom Chassis and ask. They have a 24/7 customer help line at 1-800-FTL-HELP (have the loast 6 of your VIN handy).

As I recall, the top of the line Freightliner SLC chassis has a liftable (and steerable) tag option, but the standard tag axle just dumps air as Kevin described.

It's also possible your tag is carrying too much tire pressure or that the tag running height is not properly adjusted. Either one of those results in the tag carrying more weight than desirable and increasing the drag in turns.
