Purchased a used 1986 Winnebago Chieftain Motor home in Oct 2016. First major trip was loaned to daughter and son in law to take granddaughter and 3Friends to the Electric Forest concerts in Michigan. On their way back to Denmark WI the engine blew near the Great America exit in Northern IL. The owner of the shop it was towed to says he is too old to re power another Winnebago. He said oil dipstick wore a hole in the pan and all the oil blew out and the engine threw a rod.
Would be interested in any shops in Northern IL that are recommended for rebuilding the 454 engine or installing a re- manned 454. Wife, dogs and I have not spent a night in our new Winnebago yet.
