I'm pulling a 34 ft. fifth wheel. Thinking about taking eastbound 50 hwy. over Monarch Pass to Pueblo, Co. Has anybody taken this route? Would like to know how bad the downgrade is eastbound. I have an exhaust brake but when I'm in low gear for any length of time it tends to overheat my transmission. Any advice will help. Thanks

It's a long slow steady 6% grade with no tight turns, until you get into Poncha Springs. If you can disable Overdrive, and keep your speed down without being in low gear, or constant braking, you should be able to handle it. But, there no real opportunities to catch up with your speed if it gets ahead of you, and a nice tight turn at the bottom.
