Motor home failed to start and found defective starter after replacing starter the remote shutdown switch melted and after checking the cable going to starting battery arcs so disconnected and removed one of the battery cables going to starting motor arc went away but now have the chassis ground strap and one battery cable disconnected. Any ideas? Should both battery cables and ground strap be connected to starter solenoid mounted on starter motor? This is a 1999 HolidayRambler Endeavor with Cummins diesel .
