We have a replacement radio but are struggling to get the old one out of the dash. We pulled off the surrounding radio bezel, removed the 4 screws and pulled until blue but cannot get it out. We cannot see anything else holding the radio in the metal case. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

P.S. It's the top one in the pic

Likely a strap at the back of the radio.  It will need to be removed first.

So are you proposing that we have to take apart the dash to get to the back of the radio? Theory or fact? Thanks

Looks like a double din mounted radio. Should be two small holes on each side to insert a removal tool you can pick up at any auto or stereo equipment store.
Good luck.

You may have to put the screws back in.  They hold the box the radio slides into.  Once you can get to the back of the box you'll probably be able to remove the strap.

If you have the dexterity 4 medium sized nails (6-8p?) can be used to release the catches.  Push them in a couple of inches or until you feel a little resistance and then press the nail heads outwards and pull the radio while maintaining the outward pressure on the nails.

On some radios a wire coat hanger works but in my opinion they bend too easily.

Can you tell me where the catches are?

We have the new direct replacement as a reference and there are no obvious catches. There are what appear to be two additional metal boxes that Winnie put it that the radio is residing in. We are digging in this thing with everything we own and cannot get it to release. We were going to pull the dash but the heating vent hoses are so short there is no give to be had. Prefer to pull this thing without tearing apart the dash if possible.

There are not any holes anywhere to put a tool in that we can see. Every hole has a screw.
Thanks

Make google and youtube your friend.....even though your radio is larger than this it basically shows you where the catches are located and where the tabs are that bend down to hold the sleeve in. Good Luck

Follow up, none of the above.

It was screwed to a mounting bracket on the back of the radio, no clips or bands. When in doubt, take dash apart which we did after calling River Park and Winnebago which both stated just remove the radio fascia, 4 screws and it will slide right out. NOT. Well, it does, once you remove the screw. LOL. Therefore you cannot remove the radio without removing the dash covers.

This is on a 2012 Journey in case that helps any future radio re-placers with the same set up. I was going to submit pics but can't seem to get them small enough to upload, sorry.

thanks everyone for your help and have a nice day!
