Water overflow
« on: August 20, 2017, 05:39:54 PM »
I have a 30' Class C Gulfstream Yellowstone. I've noticed that when I'm using the freshwater tank, when I turn the waterpump on I get water from the faucet, but it's also pumping it out of the city fill spout. What's up?

The City fuill contains a check valve it has failed. Now there are two common failure modes...

ONe is actual failure of the valve.. Requiring replacement (Not expensive)
The other is "Debris" blocking the valve. THIS can sometimes be cleared

Warning: I have had people say IF YOU DO as I am about to suggest you will RUIN the check valve..

Well... One thing to understand is. You can NOT make it worse it is already not working.. So....

Remove the screen washer .. You will see a plastic cross piece with a button in the middle

Turn on the pump so water is flowing out the inlet.. Using a flat bottomed "Tool" (Pencil eraser works real nice) Push the button to release any debris that will then be flushed out, You might need 2 or 3 tries. If it works, great If not go get a new inlet

Temp solution.. Plug it   Screw in travel plug. Brass is best but nylon may work

Often the city inlet check valve simply gets a bit of dirt stuck in it, as John described. If the repair doesn't work, just put a threaded plug on it for now. It's standard garden hose thread. Rv stores will have fancy ones (see link below), but you can get a 3/4" hose thread plug at any hardware store or dept.

Or you may be able to use one of these:

You should be able to find a similar one in about any hardware store.
