For years, there's been a paucity of great RV parks along this route. Several years ago, some folks living in the tiny town of Silt--between Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs-- turned their farm and ranch land into the Silt - Colorado River KOA, a dreamy place along this high-traffic corridor. Yes, there's a bit of highway noise, but not nearly as much as at many of the other parks along this route. The rows farthest from the X-way, right along the gorgeous fast-flowing Colorado River, have very little noise...sleeping with your windows wide open is not only possible, but delightful. A distant train whistle periodically is a pleasure, not a pain. The Deluxe Patio sites on the river ($58/nt with KOA discount) are heavenly...covered area with table & chairs, fancy gas grill at each patio, lovely fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We just learned the owners are also ready to convert more of their vacant land to additional riverfront sites because these have been very successful. Very nice pool & hot tub. Eagles, river otters and herons to watch while relaxing. Good fly fishing practically at your doorstep. Beautiful very large fenced dog area. Very little light pollution, so the Milky Way overhead is spectacular.
