Total Eclipse 2024
« on: August 21, 2017, 06:04:46 PM »
Looks like it's just going to miss Big Bend, entering the USA at Piedra Negras before going northeast through Texas and the middle of the country, then exiting in Maine.

It's supposed to last twice as long as today's eclipse with 4 minutes of totality in Texas.

Our home, in Northern NY, is right dead center of the path.  8)  BTW, todays eclipse was just awesome.  We are at our daughter's place in Taylors, SC.  Very cool to witness.

Huh, maybe I won't be in such a hurry to sell my S&B.  It's right in the path for the one in '24.

Here is a great link for lots of detailed info about the path of the eclipse:  http://xjubier.free.fr/en/site_pages/solar_eclipses/TSE_2024_GoogleMapFull.html

Zoom down to the location you plan to view the eclipse, then click on the exact spot where you will be staying.  The app will display info about duration, time of totality, etc.

I agree with Catblaster, I don't even buy green bananas at my age, thinking about 2024 is out of the question. :o

Al, thanks for that map.  We currently have our S&B rented out and are staying at an RV park not too far away.  Using your map, I find that the center of the totality path is directly over the top of this RV park.  About a mile south of my house, though.
Not sure I want to put in my reservation this far in advance, though.

I have already put the eclipse on my calendar. After the wonderful view of totality last time, I definitely plan on seeing it again in 6 1/2 years. As to where, I figure that decision can wait a bit.

Me too, it was amazing and if next one is twice as long that will be incredible!

Arkansas !!!

Where at Wendy?  My wife and I are currently staying in Shirley, although we have a S&B place in Fox, about 18 miles away.

Looking at the link Lou posted, looks like a big chunk of Arkansas will be good eclipse viewing.
