The weather is cooling some (if you can ignore the smoke), the Aspens should be starting to turn, and the elk are going into rut. The elk can put on quite a show this time of year, both vocally and physically! The bears are more active, getting ready for winter. A good time to be in the high Rockies!

We have been here since Tuesday. The smoke cleared a bit today with a front, but it is still awfully hazy. West Yellowstone has been mostly at a "yellow" air quality, much better than Butte or farther west. The only elk I have seen were cows bedded down in front of a ranger residence in Mammoth! Haven't seen a bull or heard anything. We are headed down to the Tetons tomorrow, just for variety. Maybe we will get lucky in the next week and hear some elk bugles.

Been here for 10 days and seen more Elks and Moose on back roads around then in the park,Heading to Tetons Thursday for 12 days
