Winterizing Now - Thinking About Next Year!
« on: September 20, 2017, 03:52:39 PM »
Thank you all so much for your quiet assistance with our first year (again) of travel trailer ownership.  We had a great summer and are getting ready to tuck her in for the Winter.

We are developing our wish list for next season and I would appreciate any input (brands, reviews etc):
  • Suitcase Solar - my hubby uses a cpap and we boondock a lot.  We have generators but hate to ruin the peace with noise.  We have to charge up every day.
  • Patio Rug - thinking of the plastic-like ones.  Suggestions?
  • More Lynx Levelers - are there chocks made especially to go with these?

Thanks again!

Patio rug- I would suggest two smaller rugs than one large rug. The 9' x 20' we have is a pain to clean, as we like to hang our rugs over the clothesline to clean them.

Chocks- is this what you want?

I don't want to seem anti-solar, but you may well be better off simply adding another battery, or a large one that the typical Group 24 size that comes with most trailers. Do you already have an inverter to power the Cpap without running the genset? Or perhaps a Cpap that will run direct off 12v?

We have two batteries and it's a small trailer - I don't think we would have room for golf cart batteries.  Hubby wired in a 12-volt receptacle that his cpap can plug in to.  He's on a pretty large pressure so even without using the humidifier it runs us down to below 50% by morning.

We are otherwise very conservative with power but still have to charge up every day and are very concerned about the neighbors.  We do have two inverter (quiet) type generators.  I think with a little solar trickling all day we would have to be noisy for less time.  I've seen the suitcase type for what seems to be a decent price and we could still park in the shade. ;D

Anyone with a CPAP use suitcase solar?

Two smaller rugs sounds like an excellent idea.  Thanks!
