i have a 2000 onan 4000 generator model 4ky fa26100j. the generator would not start. I accidentally discovered, if I remove the power lead to the carburetor solenoid and touch it to a 12volt supply it will start, but wont stay running. I then did the same thing and then removed the 12volt supply and it stayed running shortly. I once again figured out that if I pulse this 12volt supply I can keep the generator running indefinitely. So my questions are. is the carburetor solenoid bad? I did check the normal lead wire to the solenoid, there is 12 volt constant power. should there be constant power? or is it suppose to pulse?
