We will be taking our 5th Wheel soon for a road trip 6 hour drive.  We won't be able to replace the awning before this trip.  The hardware is in good shape, just the canvas itself is deteriorating.  Do you think it will be safe to travel as it is or should I try wrapping it with something to prevent a mishap?  We do not plan to use the awning until we replace it in the future.  I'm going to attempt to attach a couple of pictures.

Why not take the fabric off and leave the hardware attached?

Thank you for the replies.  That makes sense.  Should we just cut it off for the time being instead of removing the roller?
