During my summer trip a post jumped out and damaged the right side of my motorhome. The damaged part is a part of the body. I can afford the part from Winnebago, but the shipping would be extreeemely high. I would like to see if one might be available from a salvage yard in central Florida where I can go to and pickup.

Does anyone know of a salvage yard here in central Florida?

I live in central Florida and I have never heard of an RV salvage yard here. Catblaster will have the answer since he has lived here all his life.

A Google for Motor Home Salvage yards in Central Florida brought up several.  You will have to get on the phone and call to see if they might have the part.

after Irma,  there should be a bunch of new salvage yards opening up.

I've been to one near Gainesville. Mostly trailers at the time, but that was years ago.

This Google Search will find a bunch:

I picked out some addresses that were available and made sense. I called the posted numbers and found that two had disconnected numbers, two did not have the parts and one number was busy longer than I was able to wait.

Guess I will have to try my blacksmithing skills and try to straighten the part.

Thanks to all.

I am looking for the piece of trim which is just at the junction of the bay doors and the upper body. It is an aluminum extrusion about 1 3/4" wide by 3/16" thick by 110 5/8" long. The cost is about $110 plus shipping. The cost of shipping from Winnebago could be as much as several hundred dollars because of its length. I was looking for a used part that might be available within 200 miles from the home base where I could pick it up. I talked with the local Camping World and was told that they had recently received a similar part and with all of the added shipping costs the shipping cost was over $200. I have purchased several parts from Winnebago sources and found that the shipping costs are very ridiculously high so the projected costs do not surprise me. Next week, I will extend my search toward Miami. If all that fails I will try to straighten the part myself. The material is very hard and does not bend very easily.

The part number is found on page 132 item #1 and is 123993-01-02A EA TRIM - COVER - 182" ALUMINUM - BLACK
FROM: 07-29-02 THRU: 99-99-99

Ouch. I think the length is the killer for shipping charges. I think UPS has a 72" limit (??) and maybe > 96" pushes it into a different truck freight category.

I forget the exact numbers but last season I had my side awning material replaced.  The original had the aluminum cover guard over the length of the closed awning and it was part of the orignal.  Because of it's length (16 ft), the shipping charges were going to be ridiculous so I just ordered the material itself and decided to do away with the cover - it always seemed to hold water anyway.  I remember the installer saying I saved at least $200 plus he said he had never received one yet that was not bent in shipping....lol

I just straightened out the part and I believe it is good enough to go back on a MH that is 14 years old. Yesterday I was up to the local RV dealer to get a door awning part that I had ordered about 3 months ago and noticed that all of their motorhomes regardless of manufacturer had a part that looked the same as on mine. They may all use the same part. It might be a way to get a used part without looking too hard.

Glad you were able to reuse the part, thanks for checking in. I get stuff delivered by truck freight every now and then and it's more expensive for residential delivery and again more expensive if you need a lift gate (I don't, my tractor has forks.) I just had a Rec Tec pellet smoker delivered by truck freight and shipping was $200 (20% of the cost of the smoker  ::).)

Several times I've had the supplier just cut my long part in half and ship it (probably wouldn't work with a smoker grill)  ;)

Not always possible but it works sometimes and greatly reduces the shipping.
