Household shower heads in an RV
« on: October 08, 2017, 06:16:40 PM »
Recently I saw the question posted on facebook, "Can I install a household shower head in an RV" The answer of course is yes. they both use standard pipe fittings as well as the faucets in the kitchen and bathroom. I decided to get a shower head that is not labeled for RV use and see what happens. I was completely underwhelmed, it was just like I had put the factory shower head back on. So now I'm back in the comfort of my oxygenics. Check it out if you have some time!

I just installed a new household shower head in my fiver. The old one put out about ten gpm. The new one is adjustable between .5 and 1.5 gpm so I am saving water and propane.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have not yet offended. Please be patient and I will get to you shortly.

We went the other way around. We liked the Camco shower head we bought for the motorhome so well that we bought another one for the shower in our Adirondack vacation cottage. And it even has a positive shut off valve with no "dribble"... ;)

The standard shower head is a 1/2 inch female IPT thread.. Does not matter if HOME or RV they are the same. either can be used HOWEVER....

Some home type shower heads ned 2,3,4,5 Gallons per minute.. Others only 1-2  2 is about the limit for RV systems.

The 1992 "Clean Water Act" restricts shower head flow rates to 2.5 GPM maximium.

Which is why I take out the little blue plastic restrictor in the shower head before I install it in the house.  I'm also known to cut out the plastic bowl in the modern toilet tanks too.  I like living on the wild side.

Oxygenics shower head is the best thing I've found for the camper.

My wife and I loved our Oxygenics shower head so much we put one in our sticks and bricks.
