Mercury Hearing Aid Batterries
« on: October 11, 2017, 12:33:20 PM »
I just purchased new batteries and realized after I received them that they were mercury free.  After seeing that, I went back to Amazon and found that I could get them either way for about the same price. Are they any weaker or stronger than the standard battery?

I thought most all batteries were mercury free these days. Even my local landfill has discontinued its separate recycling for small batteries - they say there isn't enough mercury in any of them to worry about. And probably hasn't been since about 2004.

Read about mercury in batteries at:

I'd say buy whatever works...

I just checked my recently purchased Duracell Activair hearing aid batteries, and they have both the "Hg" and "Pb" mercury and lead symbols on the package. The expiration date is in 2021, so I expect they're reasonably current production.
