I've been searching with no luck so far, for a tow bar for my 1996 Ford Ranger 2wd with manual tranny. Anyone with some good suggestions that I can try?
TIA.

You need to locate a baseplate, not a towbar. Once you have the baseplate, just about any popular towbar will work, though some may need an adapter.

Try one of these:

435-3 Road Master XL Base Plate Kit

BX2117 Blue Ox Standard Base Plate Kit

9517022 Demco Tow Bar Base Plate Ford Explorer 95-98

Etrailer has Ranger base plates for both Blue Ox and Roadmaster tow bars. And either of those work with Demco tow bars using an adapter.

Any problem using the Demco base plates ? I see they are less $$.

Depends on what tow bar you want to use.  An adapter may be needed to match a Demco base plate with a different brand of tow bar. Obviously, they are compatible with Demco tow bars, though.

After some research and price comparisons, I decided to just go with the Demco mounts and tow bar. Seems to have some good reviews.  Mainly, I'll just be towing my Ranger out to camping areas throughout the state, and maybe one 1000 mile trip a year.
