Has anyone had experience towing a Jeep Compass? After reviewing the manual and checking the vehicles that are compatible with flat-towing behind a MH, there is contradictory information. Appreciate any help.

Most Jeep products are 4 down towable.  Go to    http://www.remcoindustries.com/Towing/  to see if your specific model is 4 down, or flat towable.

Both the FMCA and Motorhome Magazine Dinghy Tow Guides agree:

The Compass is a front wheel drive and the automatic version is not 4-down towable.  You can use a dolly, though. The Compass with a manual tranny is towable.

In the old days nearly everything JEEP made could be Flat Towed

Today. Jeep makes both 2WD and 4WD vehicles. 2WD (IE: surplus Post Office Jeeps) NOT towable 4-Down unless Stick Shift

4WD,, IF it has a manual transfer case.. Should be 4-downable (Read the manual to be sure or check with Remcotowingusa.

Full Time 4WD (I once driver a Liberty that had that) NOT 4-downable.

Many recent Jeeps are not down towable.  I have a Patriot and a Cherokee, both FWD, none down towable.  Only those 4WD with one of the two transmissions is down towable.
