5th wheel pin box
« on: February 10, 2018, 10:22:19 PM »
So I got my 5th wheel frame repaired now I want to put a better pin box on to help with bouncing to reduce the chance my frame will tear again. What’s everyone’s opinion. Trail air / moryde / Reese airborne. Any help.

Have only used a TrailAir, so no comments on the others.  But the TrailAir has served me well for 12 years.

Is changing the hitch a consideration?

I, too, have cracks in the fifth wheel pin box. They will be repaired the 21st.

I was thinking of air ride suspension on the truck to help with the sudden jars. Would an air ride fifth wheel be better?

Either will work.  I was amazed how much the air pin box moves going down the road when I first installed it.

A good hitch will roll with the trailer most 20k and bigger pivot front to back and side to side

Im curious what were you using for a hitch before.

Y'all may be confusing pin box and hitch. The op's original question was about a pin box.

thats correct but the OP said his frame cracked a pin box is 1/2 of the equation the hitch is the the other 1/2 i doubt the pin box is soley to blame a crappy hitch will cause a lot of grief

Yes more expensive but it would be the way I'd go ( or TrailerSaver) if the frame on my trailer cracked.

Both Comfort and TrailerSaver make adapters for the puck systems
