I see a number of campgrounds but the highest rated seems to be at the end of the runway at the airport.

We stayed at the Alamogordo Elks Lodge. Which does you no good if you?re not an Elk ?

Also the Famcamp at the Air Force base if you are active or retired military.

On US70 about half way between the main gate at Holloman AFB and the White Sands visitor center, on the north side of the road, is Holloman Lake, public access recreation area, where boondocking is allowed. The lake water is dangerous to come in contact with however.

Holloman has a visitor center that is outside the main gate, just turn in like you are headed to the security guard and then turn right. Never been there, found it on Google Maps, looks like it is worth a stop in in the area. If they allow you on base, which they may, about 3000 ft straight ahead from the security guards is a park on the right with about ten aircraft displayed, including a German Toronado strike aircraft.

Might be too late, but the KOA, while dated, is in a good base location for many of the activities posted in your earlier thread.

It always depends on what kind of camping you want to do, so it helps if when asking about campgrounds, to tell us if you need a sewer connection, or even water and electric.

And I vote for Oliver Lee, also.  Don't forget the space museum and town, and be sure to take a drive through the White Sands National Monument and climb on the dunes.
