Here is a list of security systems from PC Magazine, that will connect to a “smart” phone. Probably most, could be RV adaptable!

Some have an audible alarm, for when you are at home. Others, have audible plus connect to a mobile device, for when you are away from your RV!

We are always looking for a better/ less expensive/ more practice system! We use Protect America at home, which connects to the “smart phone”!  Been satisfied for about 15 years!

Maybe some NRA stickers or "Protected by Smith & Wesson, but really common sense is the most important. Last night I was staying at a Casino without a security patrol, don't think I will do that again, but anyway I had my umbilical (electrical) cord stolen and a center cap from my toad's wheel. I guess a Casino might attract more shady types than other place and well ... lesson learned.

Anyone else use the free casino parking .. and with or without security?

Motion lights connected to a audible device. "We don't call 911" stickers. Fly an ISIS flag. FBI, CIA, and all the local police will be watching your property for you.

A great RV/ commercial truck security I've found is the Owleye by Wireless Prime. It has 360 degree live stitching and can also serve as a back up camera. I'm not aware of any other system on the market that can achieve this for a modest investment.  I've tried fake cameras and stickers in the past and it deters some but not everyone. I like monitoring everything from a all angles. I don't really fear my fellow RV community. We're like a big family in a way. Unfortunately it only takes one bad apple to cause you to take precautions.

I like to keep a low profile so no stickers for me.

Did we scare the op off the forum?

Bill, I think you could drive your rig with the curtains closed  ;)

I am staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness.  Wonder if I need to set out mouse traps and report any Goofy characters wondering around. ;D

We stayed at a KAO recently that had a dive bar attached to the gas station which owned the KAO.  When I first started RVing I would have pulled in and said "No Way".  There were a ton of very, very nice RV's there and no apparent problems - even as the bar closed at 2:00am.

I think the concern is justified and sympathize but I am willing to take the "risks" since the alternative is to stay home.  Any RV could be broken into with a cordless sawzall in about 20 seconds. I know people who won't RV because they feel uncomfortable leaving their house.  Their loss!

We never leave anything out. Once the grill is cooled, it is put away. We lock the bikes to a table, tree or even the RV ladder. We lock the surge protector to the electric post with a skinny, short bike lock. We feel that if someone really wants our stuff, they will find a way to get it. But, we are not going to make it easy for them. Maybe they will see the locks and decide to go elsewhere. As for personal safety when sleeping, we use the deadbolt and keep a can of bear spray handy. Roxie will bark to alert us to someone trying to get in. Luckily for us, no problems so far. Only 1 campground was sketchy. We rely heavily on reviews, looking for what othrrs say about safety concerns.

Oldgator 73, reminds me of the time my neighbor was telling me about driving home his brand new truck and a 12 point beer jumped out right in front of him.  I was laughing soooo hard...he asked me "what's so damn funny about that, it could have wrecked my new truck!"  I told him I'd never seen a 12 point beer before...or at least one that jumped out of a ditch!  I think they call that Malt Liquor in some states  8)

I think he may have had at least a few 12 pointers before he told me the story  :p  Slurring words and all.

We have dachshunds.

When they hear something they can raise enough cain that the burglar would BEG to be allowed to exit if he was brave enough to enter in the first place.

If he gets past the dogs, I have something for him.  ;)

Here is a list of security systems from PC Magazine, ....

So I am new to the RV world and haven't even purchased a unit (yet).  But I have been studying all the library and forums for good ideas and what to look (out) for.  One of the items is battery life and maintenance.  It would seem to me if you connect such security devices to your house and are not on shore power, your batteries would soon be for not.

The camera's I install and maintain at work use a 500 mA power supply @ 12 vDC. I can run two cameras on one power supply as the camera draws 185 mA.  I have found that if I remove the infra red source they drop to 30~50 mills which isn't a bad load but still might knock a battery system down.

I am actually considering placing (4) cams on the RV and recording as I drive, kinda like a dash-cam setup except all angles.  I could do this for under $200 + time to install. Never know when a recording of an incident might come in handy.

Here is a local story from my location on surveillance cameras. Pretty cool!  :))

I found a link to that Owl Eye security system. It's a drive assist system. The 360 degree live stitching allows you to see all around the rv while driving. Pretty cool for blind spot detection.
