Good afternoon,
We have always towed a pop up and never had to deal with brakes or sway bars. We are getting a 17-18' hybrid  that is 8' wide soon, with a gvwr of 3,500 lbs. The tacoma has a towing package and is rated to tow 6,600 lbs.

My question is about the sway bars, I know there is a variety of different styles and prices available. We have a relatively small, lightweight trailer & needed advice of what type would work well for us. Hoping not to have to put out hundreds of $ on a one but we don't want to be unsafe either.

Thanks,
Marcia

My husband wants me to ask if we need a sway bar at all
For this set up.

Thanks

Welcome to the Forum!

I hope wiser folks than me will be here soon, but with a SENSIBLE size TT like you have, you certainly do not need a WD hitch and my guess is sway bars are optional.  Try it  without and see how it handles.  NOTE:  Make sure your tongue wt is at least 10% of TT wt, or over 350#.  With too little tongue wt, you will have sway issues!
