Hello to all,

I just returned from a trip to Moab- stopped at the dumpstation and emptied out the tanks, I turned on the pump to flush the toilet of the remaining water in the fresh tank. not sure what or how I missed it, but anyways, after a 5 hour long drive home I could hear the pump running while unloading everything- I shut if off right away, but is the damage done?
Thanks in advance, UtahnTravis

There is one way to find out!  I recently was looking at pumps, and all claimed it was designed to run dry.  In a diaphragm pump, the moving part pushes the diaphragm and is not water lubricated or cooled.  It simply pumps air.

Thanks guys for the responses- It's freezing here at night, so I didn't want to fill the tank with water to give it a test run- got some more RV antifreeze on the way.

But at least it sounds like I don't have to sweat it.

    Thanks-Utahntravis

More than once I have left the campground and forgot to turn of the pump and arrived to find that, driving down the road it had kicked on and had lost its prime. It never caused any problems with mine.

Safe travels
