Leaving Fallon early May thinking of going west on I80 to Reno than north on US 395 to Susanville Ca. Than
Ca 36 west to I5 north to Lebanon Or. We be in a 30 foot Class C towing a Jeep.  Only real concern is Ca 36.
Any reason I should look for a different route?

Thanks in advance

Bill

You shouldn't have any problem on CA 36 between Lake Almador and I-5, however west of I-5 through the Coast Range 36 is not recommended for RV due to sharp switchbacks and narrow lanes.  Motorcycles love it though.  ;)

BTW, if you have fast Internet access, you can "drive" any section of road you're concerned about by using Google Maps Street View.  Click further down the road to go there.  Or bring up the standard map, open the Menu (the three bars at the upper left) and click on "Terrain" for a map with terrain contours drawn on it.  For example:

https://www.google.com/maps/@40.3485031,-121.5591171,13.51z/data=!5m1!1e4

shows a 900 ft. climb (4800 ft - 5700 ft) south of Mt. Lassen NP, then not much else as it heads west through the foothills.

Compare that to CA 36 as it goes through the Coast Range west of Red Bluff:

Over the last 15 years we have taken this shortest good route many times from our home in Fallon
to Oregon Via Susanville & Mount Shasta.
Highways 50 & alt 50 W, I-80 W, 395 N, 36 W, 44N, 89 N & I-5 N.

Fallon to Hat Creek 201 miles (good rv park in Hat Creek if we want to stop)
Fallon  to Yreka 310  miles usually  our first nights stop at, Waiiaki Trailer Haven in Yreka
at I-5 Exit 773, their # 530-842-4500

Ditto Dick's route through Susanville.  But May can still be dicey so check the weather before leaving.
