Hi,

We have a 2018 Jayco 25R.  I know this is covered under warranty, but all of the local repair shops are booked out for months and we have trips planned.  It doesn't seem too expensive to fix so I will just do it myself.

Our power step stopped working in the up position. I checked and there is power going to the step's control module, but not to the motor.  The door opens and nothing happens.  I tried all the options I could think of (starting the engine, shore power, flipping switches, open and close door, ect) but nothing works to lower it.

Because of that, I have narrowed it down to two potential problems: either the door sensor is bad, or the control module is bad.

1.  How do you test the magnetic door sensor?
2. The control module on my unit is a Kwikee 1510000140.... will a 1510000172 work or do I need to find a 140?

Thank you for your help!! Truly appreciated!!

Welcome to the RV Forum. You'll really like the people here.

You can use a magnet to check the door sensor.
Just hold it against the door jam where the sensor is.

Jumper wire across the input wire from the sensor where it connects to the module. If the steps work then the sensor is bad. If the steps don't move then the module is bad.

Here's the Kwikee Service Manual that covers many models.  Hope it helps.
