43' Monaco Diplomat pusher.  My wife wants me to dolly tow her 2015 Chevy Volt.  I have heard stories that the Volt is difficult to safely strap onto the dolly.  This info was several years old.  Does anyone know if the dolly manufacturers have rectified the problems?  Your help is greatly appreciated as we are newbies to the whole RV system and as of last week we are full timers.

The problems described there are real but not unique to a Volt - modernistic vehicles with a low front fascia often encounter clearance problems, getting up on the dolly, ratcheting the straps down, attaching safety chains, etc. Front drives may also have nearby components that quickly wear a cut in the strap if not carefully routed over & around the wheel.  I've had similar difficulties with a Buick Verano and read about them with BMW M3.  There are a zillion vehicle models and the dolly makers have to compromise to address as many as possible.  In the article cited above, it appears Demco went the extra mile to help the Volt owner solve his problem.

Many newer vehicles no longer use locking steer columns - they have electronic anti-theft instead.  All those vehicles require the steering wheel to be tied down in some manner if towed on a dolly that has swiveling wheel tables.  Most modern tow dollies have swivel wheel tables, but I believe the Acme EZ Tow does not. Often the driver seat belt can be wrapped around the steering wheel to do that, but there are alternative methods as well. Demco makes a steering wheel strap - see https://www.rvautoparts.com/5975-Demco-RV-Steering-Wheel-Lock-For-Use-On-Towed-Vehicles-That-Do_p_10616.html

You might contact Demco about their dolly models and use with the Volt.

Some people with lower front ends use a piece of 2"x6" for a longer transition into the dolly.  I don't need it, but know of some who do.
