Good LED lights
« on: April 02, 2018, 10:42:03 AM »
I am looking to make my camper more energy efficient. Can I buy reasonably priced LED replacements or do I have to spend $10? They are the 921 type. Any suggestions thank you.

Amazon has 20 of the 921's for $16.99

My entire rig is LED inside and out, but I kept the old lights too. Over my stove and outdoor light I put in super bright LED so I could see better.

That's funny. Out of so many on Amazon these are the exact ones I ordered this afternoon. I thought for the money it would be worth a try. I did read some on this but the 10 to 12 dollar a piece bulbs seems a bit excessive. I have 11 in my small tt and really want to cut the juice to the lights. Also put together a battery box with three motercycle batteries in parallel for cell phones, radio and wireless speaker. Now on the hunt for a reasonable and portable solar suitcase with charger.

Last year I put the ones like MissMermaid posted in my TT.  This year some of them started to flicker and some of the LED elements began falling off.  Now I'm replacing them as they go bad with the flat style ones.

I usually buy LEDs based on the reviews on Amazon. If a certain listing has 4,000 reviews and 4.8 stars average? buy it. If a listing has 3 reviews, with one of them a 5 and two of them a 1 rating, yeah I'll pass. Seems to work well using that approach.

They are voltage regulated bulbs that likely will interfere with over the air TV reception.   The bright white light is something I couldn't stand, I prefer 2800 to 3500 Kelvin.

I bought these non regulated bulbs (no TV interference) from eBay, they may or may not have a shorter life, so I bought plenty. https://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-T10-194-921-W5W-12-5050SMD-LED-Car-Bulb-Lamp-DC12V-Warm-White-3000K-Y/182708012265?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

I bought those cheap amazon bulk bulbs last year and they started strobing on me after 2 trips. Threw them in the trash and decided to spend the xtra dollars on better ones. Found a good led light for $13 a piece on m4 site (bought 2 and flat panel for stove area) and have had no problems! And they are bright! Best decision i have made!
