What am I doing wrong?

In my last trip the dolly straps made these mark on the tires.  I am concerned about it.  It was raining a lot and I had to adjust them more than once.  What am I doing wrong?

Looks to me like they loosened up a little allowing them to rub back and forth wearing out the rubber. Are they new straps?
 
Nope, Rene, they are not new but it was raining. I had to tighten them a couple times.  Do you think the tires are ok?
 
It looks like they only made indentations and didn't cut into the rubber sidewalls. If so, they should be fine. I have to tighten my dolly tire straps up several times on each vacation to having to do it twice isn't a big deal. You actually should check the tension after 50 miles from taking off, and then every 100-150 miles after that.
 
The straps should be flat against the tire and not twisted,,and they should be the correct strap for that SIZE tire.>>>Dan
