Correct! I first heard it at a friend's when I was about 12.....  10 years ago  ;D ;D

Most of the selections so far (there are exceptions) are songs and, mostly, artists I've not heard of (not my genre(s)) but a couple were very familiar. So here's one that perhaps is not so commonly known:

"And would you spend your life away
Collecting great treasures
So you'd be safe someday?"

Artist:
Song:
Author:

I wouldn?t have known this but I had the pleasure of visiting the place referenced in the song and this artist?s music was playing. I already had the album but the lyrics didn?t mean anything to me before my visit

Easy one:

Sharks gotta swim, bats gotta fly
I gotta love one woman 'till I die
To Ed or Dick or Bob, she may be just a slob

Counting flowers on the wall, that don't bother me at all.  Playing Solitaire till dawn, with a deck of fifty-one.  Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo.  Now, don't tell me I've nothing to do.
Flowers on the Wall, Statler Bros. 1966

There is no hit song that has that lyric. People misheard Inna Gadda Da Vida. So did the drunk lead singer.
Tom, technically you are right.
My generation, my close friends know this theme song by both names and understood the story. We referred to it by both names.

There's a giant doing cartwells, a statue wearing high heels
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.

Oh man. First rock band I started listening to in high school, had many of their albums which I played on my Heathkit portable record player (which I modified with a headphone jack so I could do a better job ruining my hearing :-\ ). Still had to Google it.

OK, here is one with a bit of trivia afterwards.

I've been drivin' all night, my hand's wet on the wheel
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel
It's my baby callin', says, "I need you here"
And it's a half past four and I'm shiftin' gear
