They are building one new RV Park and a second one is in the planning stages.
The one currently under construction is between Camp Verde and Cottonwood. Up on top of a hill behind the Ford dealer off SR260 for those of you familiar with the area. Very good views from atop the hill.
GPS 34.646287 111.963205 if you want to look at it on Google Earth.
In the Google Earth image, access roads are dirt but I was there yesterday and they are all paved now. Roads inside the park are still gravel.
They hope to have the first 60 sites (half closest to water tanks) open by July. Then 60 more sites east of the first half by fall.
Here is a newspaper article about the second RV park.
There is heavy construction on SR260 west of I-17 between Camp Verde and Cottonwood. They are 4 laneing SR260 between Thousand Trails Rd. and I-17. The only problem is they are putting in seven (7) roundabouts thus nullifying any advantage of going from a 2 lane to a 4 lane road. If you are familiar with SR179 going into Sedona with all the roundabouts in the Village of Oak Creek and the miles long traffic backups you know what we have to look forward to.
