I am planning our annual northward migration and am looking for things we have bypassed on previous trips.  We are definitely going to the Atlanta Zoo to see the Pandas and we have to be in West Springfield MA for Friday night to attend our eldest grand daughter's international Ultimate Frisbee High School Tournament on Saturday.  All that said I see both Harpers Ferry and Valley Forge are close to our intended route.
So, I am looking for opinions as to the worth of a Canadian visiting these National Parks.  DW has family who fought at Harpers Ferry, so there is an emotional connection there, and the revolutionary war is always interesting, hence Valley Forge.
For those of you who have been there, what would your estimate of the time required to see the highlights, would a half day at each suffice?

Time at Harper's Ferry depends on what you want to see. Deb and I have been there numerous times, and have no problem spending the better part of a day, especially if having lunch there. There is quite a bit of walking, and generally, half is uphill. That slows us down, as Deb isn't a walker. (health reasons, not by choice)

I live about 10min from Harpers Ferry.  Neat place, very hard to park during peak season.  The KOA is a very popular place, definitely book early before visit.  The rivers are pretty.  Charles Town WV is right up highway 340, horse track/casino neat visit if you're into that, RV parking there at the casino.  Hour or so drive to northern Virginia and a couple of RV spots down there near enough to D.C.  Metro is all the way out there now, Silver Line almost all the way out to Dulles now.

I live about 20 minutes west of Valley Forge and have been there too many time to count. You can definitely do it in a half day and it would be best to take one of the guided bus tours which makes stops at all of the highlighted areas. As far as your camper goes, I don't ever remember seeing somewhere to park it. Plus there are no campsites anywhere in the vicinity. As jje1960 stated about Harper's Ferry there is a casino 2 minutes from the Valley Forge entrance.

Another thought if you haven't been there, Gettysburg National Park is about an hour North of Harper's Ferry and plenty of camping around there.
