Repairing water damage

I have an area of approximately 3ft x 3ft that is water damaged due to a leak via the rear light assembly.  I was thinking of cutting out this section and repairing the water damage and then replacing the filon paneling.  I am not sure how to connect this new filon panel to the existing panel. Can I use a strip of fibreglass to make this connection or is there a pre-made connector I can purchase to do this?
 
I don't know of any pre-made joint connectors for fiberglass panels. The usual technique is to fill the seam with fiberglass putty, sand and paint to match.  I'm sure you could find a flat trim strip of some sort to cover the seam, though. Maybe one of the vinyl trims used with vinyl or wood paneling? Maybe this could be utilized some how?

The usual joint trim on an RV is called an insert molding. It is a aluminum strip designed to cover a joint and screw heads and gets a suitable-color vinyl trim inserted into it for the cosmeteics. Here's an examle:
