I have been searching all over the internet and can't seem to get an answer to this question. I am looking for something super specific and can't figure out if it exists.

I'm searching for a used 22' class C with a rear door and kitchen. Not with a door on the very back of the unit but on the side - I guess you would say it opens into the kitchen. With a sofa/dining area and a bunk-over-cab (not tv).  I feel like I have seen this, but I have looked and looked for weeks on sites like rvusa and rvtrader and just don't see it.  Everything I see has the door right behind the passenger seat.

Does any manufacturer make what I'm looking for? Or should I stop looking and change my search parameters?

Thanks to all you knowledgeable folks!

Yes, a friend had exactly what you described. It was a mid-80s Hornet though, so that won't be much help in locating one.

What you are describing was available many years ago but only in a very short coach. I had a 79 GMC Jimmy like that but it was only 19ft and the only bed was above the cab. When ya walked in the sofa was across the back, then the kitchen and across from that was the table. Stool/shower was right behind the driver. Haven't seen one built like that for a long time, and mine was very hard to sell. I only had it for a couple years, too small and cramped for my liking. To find what you're looking for you'll probably have to look for very old coachs. Good luck.

On the plus side, if you find it, it should be cheap! (Unless you tell the seller this is the one and only RV that will work for you in the whole wide world!  ;) )

You might want to check LazyDaze of Montclair, California (near Pomona).  They're factory direct.  We had a 22 footer LD that had a rear door on the passenger side, a bathroom across the rear, galley across from the rear door, and a cab-over queen bunk.  LazyDaze was one of the first (maybe "the" first) Class C manufacturers and they're still family-owned and make a quality Class C.  We also owned a 30' LazyDaze (and loved them both) before moving up to a DP.  LazyDaze owners tend to keep them for a long time so you don't see many used ones for sale but there are some around.

Bunches of rear bath units here, but don't see a rear entry door .... https://www.google.com/search?q=lazy+daze+for+sale&oq=lazydaze+&aqs=chrome.5.69i57j0l5.15780j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Here's a picture of one with the rear door.  It's a 1991 blue 22 footer.  If it has the small rear window on the passenger side, that window is in the shower and the rear door is just in front of the bathroom.  The ones with large rear windows have bunks or the lounge in the back so they don't fit what you want.  Like I said, there aren't many available.

Gosh thanks to everyone!  Sounds like I will have to resign myself to the door behind the passenger seat.  I'm so glad I found this forum. You have all been so nice to respond.

When I was looking for a motorhome ALL I could find was what you described and it was exactly opposite of what I wanted.
Your description seems like a dime a dozen on Sacramento Craigslist.
Here's an example;

Took me almost 9 months but I found exactly what I wanted and more.

Wow!  Thanks, guess I better start checking out CL in CA. Thanks very much.

check www.winebagoind.com and search resources for previous year class c brochures and check out floorplans

I too had a heck of a time finding an RV like the one you are searching for.  I guess shorty's were never that popular.  My 2000 Gulf Stream Conquest/Cavalier is such a model.  I had to search for months to find the one I bought, and then I had to travel from Colorado to New York to purchase it.

If you use searchtempest.com, you can search Craigslist nationwide using a single query.  You can add multiple logical "OR"s to your search by inserting the "pipe" character (The vertical line - | - that is usually on the same key as the backslash - \ - character) so you can search for multiple models at the same time.  (See first attachement)

There are a few shorty Class C's that come up occasionally, but you have to keep searching every day to find them.  Here's a sample search that will get you the same model I wound up buying, but you'll have to scan through all the photos that come up to find one.  Be sure to use the "Open All" option on searchtempest to open up a separate Craigslist window for each geographic result.  (See second attachmnet) And craigslist results to gallery view is much easier to visually scan through.

Here's a sample search:

https://www.searchtempest.com/search?location=80401&maxDist=50000&region_us=1&search_string=cavalier+%7C+Conquest+%7C+Tiger&keytype=adv&Region=na&cityselect=zip&page=0&category=8&hasPic=1&srchType=T&subcat=rva&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max&minYear=min&maxYear=max&q=intitle%3Acavalier+%7C+intitle%3AConquest+%7C+intitle%3ATiger+%22image%22++inurl%3A%28rva%7Crvd%7Crvs%29

I added "Tiger" into the search because they're also quite small RV's and are somewhat equivalent.

Here's a few hits from a search I did a few minutes ago (Hit #2is a scam post however, I've seen it in multiple cities coast-to-coast over the past months and the price is way low)

I guess I want to know why you are going so short and why you want a rear door?  Rear doors would have to be higher because of the bumper, so more stairs.  And a few feet longer will not affect your driving it, gas mileage, and maybe not even parking it.

Original post: "I'm searching for a used 22' class C with a rear door and kitchen. Not with a door on the very back of the unit but on the side"

Not a rear door, a side door near the rear. . .

Cheers,

Dan K.

This gal may have what you're looking for.  It's a 24ft 2006 Forest River Sun Seeker.  Good luck in your search!
