I bought a WiFi range extender, a D-Link DAP-1610 AC1200 Dual Band Range Extender. The quick instructions say to hit the WPS button on the router and then do the same on the extender. I don't have physical access to the router in the building at work. I have the all the log-in info but the people in the office at work are afraid something might go wrong if I do anything with the router. So is there a way I can set it up on that network without touching the WPS resets?

This is what I bought:

There is also a manual setup method covered on the D-link web page that should allow you to set it up without using the WPS button on the host router.

p.s. don't expect great performance out of that extender though, my brother in law had a similar D-link extender and it barely added 30 feet to the range of their home wifi network.

What Isaac said.  I have a similar one (if not the exact same one), and it did not perform very well.  At least not for what I was looking for.  I ended up getting a TP-Link EAP110-Outdoor that I ran from an old antenna mast to my router.  It provides superb wi-fi to all areas of my yard now (my pool is set back in my yard quite far from my house, and my router is going through most of the house to get there).  But I suppose it depends on what you are using it for, or trying to use it for.
