35+ Delta Strummers (I didn't count) attended another great open mic' session last evening. 16 time slots were booked by individuals and splinter groups. A couple of soloists really stood out, and we have a lot of fodder for our portfolio.

I enjoyed playing/singing 'Lava' with our Band In The Bay splinter group; Our practices paid off.

For my solo slot, I chose to show folks how to play Doo Wop songs using a simple (C-Am-F-G7) chord progression they already know from R&R numbers. When I played a simple strum using downbeats in 6/8 time, a lot of eyes were raised when I said it was a Doo Wop strum; When I sang a couple of songs from that genre, folks got it. I followed this with an illustration of how to easily change key, forgetting the chord names and using only the numbering system (I-vi-IV-V).
